Why Safari on Mac needs its own build

Safari does not load Chrome extensions. Adblock Bullseye Safari ships as a native Safari Web Extension wrapped in a Mac app, so content blockers and page scripts follow Safari’s rules on macOS — without Chromium sideloading.

What you get

Install and block without creating an account. Free covers core ads, trackers, malware rules, and video ad blocking. A Pro subscription is optional for lists, Insights, and multi-device sync.

Safari Web Extension Free

Built for Apple’s Safari Web Extension APIs — not a Chromium sideload.

Built for macOS Free

Toolbar popup, Extensions settings, and per-site permissions the way Safari on Mac expects them.

Ads & trackers Free

Block network ads and trackers locally. Settings stay on your device unless you opt into Pro sync.

Smart Video Block Free

In-player and overlay video ad handling on supported sites, with the same privacy-first approach as other desktop browsers.

Per-site controls Free

Pause protection on one site when needed. Allowlist decay brings blocking back automatically.

How to install on Mac

  1. 1 Install the Adblock Bullseye Safari app from the App Store or a signed developer build
  2. 2 Open Safari → Settings → Extensions (or Preferences → Extensions on older macOS)
  3. 3 Enable Adblock Bullseye and allow it for the websites you visit
  4. 4 Pin Bullseye in the Safari toolbar and confirm the icon appears

Safari requires a signed Web Extension app (App Store or developer build). After install, enable Adblock Bullseye under Safari → Settings → Extensions and grant page permissions.

Requirements

  • macOS with a current Safari that supports Web Extensions
  • A signed Apple distribution (App Store or Apple Developer signed build)
  • You must enable the extension in Safari Settings after installing the app — installing alone is not enough
  • Grant page permissions for the sites you want protected

Privacy on Safari

Blocking runs on your device. We do not sell browsing history. Optional Pro cloud sync only stores settings and filters you choose to sync — never a log of every page you visit.

Tip

If pages look broken, open the Bullseye popup (or Options) and pause the current site. Allowlist decay will re-enable protection later so you are not left unprotected forever.
